ALTUS, OK (TNN) - The City of Altus held a public forum to gather input from the community on the future of the Altus Reservoir.
For the past few years, the city has been taking steps to return the reservoir to a usable supply of drinking water for the city. But with water supply plans laid out and funded, the city reached out to residents for ideas on more recreational uses of the area.
It’s an effort to boost tourism in the area, while also giving the community a fun place to enjoy.
Tuesday night people gave plenty of ideas, like a jogging pass, an amphitheater and even a beach area for swimming.
From here, a company working with the city will take those ideas and fine tune them into a solid plan for the reservoir, which will be used when requesting grant funding.
