WICHITA FALLS, TX (TNN) - Burkburnett Police have arrested a man after they say he broke into the home of two men who gave him shelter on a cold night.
According to court documents, a Burkburnett man was walking home, carrying a piece of carpet on Thursday, March 7 when Brian Luce offered to help carry the heavy carpet.
During the walk, Luce told the resident that he was homeless and had no family in the town.
The victim told Luce that he could stay that night in his cellar to get out of the cold temperatures. The victim even placed two heat lamps in the cellar to help keep Luce warm during the night.
The two residents left the home the next day for a doctor’s appointment in Wichita Falls. When they got back, they noticed some suspicious activity including a trash can that was moved, a window that had been pried open and an extension cord that was run into the cellar.
The victim’s found their radio, television and a wooden box had been moved from inside the home to the cellar.
Brian Wayne Luce, 33, has been charged with Burglary of a Habitation and possession of Marijuana in a drug free zone.
He was booked into the Wichita County Jail on Friday, March 15 and remains there as of Wednesday afternoon on a combined bond of more than $17,000.
