BURKBURNETT, TX (TNN) - Burkburnett School officials say, on Facebook, that a threat has been made against the Burkburnett Middle School.
“The Burkburnett ISD Police Department and Burkburnett Police Department are investigating and will take the necessary action,” the post states.
Officials did not elaborate on the nature of the threat.
“Student safety is our main priority,” the post goes on the say.
Superintendent Tylor Chaplin told News Channel 6 the threat was made over social media.
“We’re investigating it like we would anything else. We are taking it seriously and seeing if there is anything to it," Chaplin said.
“As soon as we had a parent turn it in to us, we contacted the Burkburnett ISD police and the Burkburnett Police to begin the investigation," Chaplin went on to say.
The Superintendent says students, parents and staff can expect an increased police presence Friday morning to ensure student’s safety.
“We’ll make sure that there is a sense of security there so that our students and our parents and community knows this is a safe place,” Chaplin said.
