DUNCAN, OK (TNN) - Duncan Middle School hosted a “Walk-In” Wednesday to show solidarity in asking for education funding.
The idea behind the event was to show solidarity in public school funding during the Oklahoma Education Association's "RED FOR ED" week.
School staff added a new vision to the yearly event by including “Meet me at the Pole.”
“Today was really about getting funding for our schools. We know that we need substitutes. We know that we need infrastructure. We need everything for our young people to make sure they have the best possible outcomes that they can have in this world. And this is what we wanted to pray about because without God nothing is possible,” said Duncan Middle School teacher Jamar Lockhart.
Every Wednesday before school, staff and students will now “Pray at the Pole” for student success during state testing as well as continued support and funding for Oklahoma Public Education.
