OKMULGEE COUNTY, OK (TNN) - We discovered new information on Monday about the investigation into the death of 2-year-old Wilder McDaniel.
According to court records, a search warrant was issued in Oklahoma three weeks ago in connection to the investigation into the toddler’s death.
An attorney for the child’s parents say investigators collected evidence, including palm prints and saliva from Wichita Falls businessman James Staley.
Wilder’s body was found in Staley’s Wichita Falls home in October 2018. Staley has been living in Okmulgee, south of Tulsa, since the death of the young boy.
According to a search warrant, detectives wanted DNA evidence from Staley as they investigate a pillow found in the bed where the child slept the night before he died.
The Wichita Falls Police Department has not named anyone as a suspect in its criminal investigation into Wilder’s death. Last week, Wilder’s parents filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Staley.
The Dallas County Coroner found the cause and manner of death to be “undetermined.”
