LAWTON, OK (TNN) - More than 1,000 FFA students from across the state were in Lawton Wednesday for Cameron University’s FFA Interscholastic Meet.
For the last 50 years or so, Cameron has hosted the event and this year, there were 11 events from agronomy to livestock judging.
This is a practice meet before the students move on to the state contest happening later this month in Stillwater.
Dr. Terry Conley says Cameron University is a strong supporter of agriculture and he says events like these do the community a great service.
“We have students form all over the SW region and the state so it helps us get the word out about Cameron, that we have excellent facilities, a great town, and great community that supports the university," said Chair of the Department of Agriculture, Biology and Health Dr. Terry Conley.
The Ag Interscholastic Meet is a yearly event at the University.
Every other year, Cameron hosts the FFA Area Speech Contest, not happening again until 2020.
