LAWTON, OK (TNN) -Many people braved the cold and rainy weather this morning to walk for a good cause.
The 2nd annual Lawton Parkinson’s Rally Walk and 5K took place at Cameron University’s Bentley Gardens. Parkinson’s Disease is the second most common neurological disease after Alzheimer’s.
People got out this morning to either walk or run in support of the cause. Executive Director of the Parkinson Foundation of Oklahoma, Bruce McIntyre said this fundraiser has allowed them to add more resources.
“We’ve been able to introduce some new therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy, and exercise in Lawton for folks is SW Oklahoma. We were able to hire a part time SW Oklahoma Director, and add a extra support group, and educational events, so a lot of new stuff for Parkinson’s community in SW Oklahoma," said McIntyre.
All funds raised stay in Oklahoma. For more information you can go to Parkinsonoklahoma.com to learn about what they do across the state.
