ENID, OK (TNN) - An Enid born astronaut passed away Monday.
Owen Garriott was 88 years old.
Garriott's family says he was recovering from a broken neck after falling over the weekend when he had a heart attack.
In the 1960s Garriott was chosen by NASA as one of the first six scientists-astronauts and flew aboard the Skylab Space Station during the Skylab 3 Mission.
Garriot passed away in Huntsville, Alabama, which is known for the U.S. Space and Rocket Center and NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center.
He will be laid to rest in Enid.
