LAWTON, OK (TNN) - Lawton Public Schools employees got to learn how to fight fires during a simulator Tuesday.
That happened at the Great Plains Technology Center Monday afternoon.
The staff got the chance to use a fake but realistic fire extinguisher in order to put out a small, virtual blaze.
The people who put on today’s event say they were learning some important lessons that could save others.
“If we can put out a fire in the incipient stage and keep it from spreading, we greatly minimize property damage and of course keep folks safe in the workplace," said safety coordinator Shawn Johnson.
They taught the staff not only how to use a fire extinguisher, but also how to inspect it and they also learned about the different types of fires.
