LAWTON, OK (TNN) - A Masonic Lodge in Lawton reached out and gave their support to a group that cares for families in pain.
The lodge presented a $1,000 check to Mended Little Hearts, a group that supports families with children suffering from congenital heart disease.
The donation was made in honor of one of the Lodge’s leaders who recently passed away.
“Knowing Mended Little Hearts is out there, that it is a group that needs help, that they’re a nonprofit, we’re gonna do what we can to help them,” said Jeanne Johnston. Johnston reached out to the lodge with the idea to donate to Mended Little Hearts. Her father, who was a leader at the lodge, passed away in September, and today’s donation was donated to him.
Johnston said she became familiar with Mended Little Hearts after her grandson Dean required heart surgery at OU Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City.
Mended Little Hearts says part of the donation will go toward its Bravery Bag program, which provides care packages for families traveling for their child’s surgery.
