LAWTON, Okla. (TNN) - The tornado went straight through the west side of town.
It caused damage throughout its path, including serious damage to a house.
The roof was damaged, windows were broken and trees knocked over on the property.
An apartment building on Byers had part of its roof ripped off and the Mangum 4H building also has some serious damage. The fire department had nearby roads blocked off.
“I actually videotaped for about 30,seconds before we went in the house and took shelter. I knew it was going to go right over the top of our house but fortunately it didn’t. The first thing I thought of was the safety of my daughter and myself. All that flashes in more than material circumstances, it’s all about family," said Lee Caffey, who witnessed the tornado first hand
OHP says three to five structures were severely damaged with minor damage to others and numerous downed power lines.
No storm related injuries have been reported, but there was a two car crash involving storm chasers.
Harmon Electricity says on Facebook that due to the number of power poles lost, people in Mangum could be without power for most of the night.
Harmon says if your power isn’t back on by 9 am tomorrow, you should call to report it.
