LAWTON, Okla. (TNN) - Children United of Southwest Oklahoma now has more money to go toward an all-inclusive playground they plan to build in Lawton.
We’ve been telling you about that playground the past few months.
Friday’s check presentation was part of a breakfast fundraiser held by Apache Casino Hotel.
Children United got three checks, $2,500 from Storage 'R Us, $10,000 from Arvest bank and $2,000 through proceeds from the breakfast.
Amanda Nunez, the project coordinator from Children United, says the playground is an important project for the many people in the area who have children with disabilities.
“There’s a large need in our community and we’re just really excited to tackle that project and to make that dream an actual reality here," says Nunez.
She says Children United is working on other fundraisers coming up including a poker run and fishing derby and says they plan on bringing their dancing for children united event back next year.
