LAWTON, Okla. (TNN) - Comanche County’s sheriff spent Wednesday afternoon trying to make people’s Thanksgiving a little better by handing out Turkeys.
Sheriff Kenny Stadley gave them to people who might not have had a traditional Thanksgiving dinner otherwise.
He says it’s possible thanks to money donations from the community. It’s something he’s done for the past 31 years, and he says the joy it brings makes it worth it every time.
“It’s just like a couple minutes ago... this gentlemen working on his car... sorta having some bad luck and we gave him a turkey and it seemed to make things a little bit better, and that’s what it’s all about: helping others. There are some people that are less fortunate and them’s the ones we need to try to help," said Sheriff Stradley.
Sheriff Stradley hand delivers the turkeys to people across county.
He says he’ll hand out about 200 turkeys before Thanksgiving.
