FT. SILL, Okla. (TNN) - Soldiers and NCO's from the 434 Field Artillery Brigade competed in an obstacle course.
The course is just one portion of the Best Warrior Competition... searching for the top solider in the brigade.
Before the obstacle courses, these soldiers did a long distance run, took the Army Physical Fitness Test and did various shooting challenges on the range.
Obstacles included rope and wall climbs, along with various challenges that tested soldiers' balance, grip strength and leaping ability.
All of this is timed, and the final scores will be tallied with the other completions to crown the Best Warrior.
”Each individual obstacle is not that hard, but all together it can really take a toll. It means a lot to me, to myself, representing my family and my unit. Me bringing back the 434 Best Warrior Title would be great for my unit, just to allow them to have that,” said Staff Sgt. Jose Valle.
The event continues Wednesday.
The competitors will be tested on other skills soldiers are expected to know, including first aid capabilities and reaction time to IEDs.
