Local businesses give Chattanooga family Christmas surprise

CHATTANOOGA, Okla. (TNN) -Two local businesses are making sure a family in Chattanooga has a very Merry Christmas.

Garza’s Green Grass and Powers Heating & Air teamed up to do some landscaping, put up Christmas lights, and give a family Christmas presents all for free.

It was a team effort as crews from Garza’s Green Grass and Powers Heating & Air showed up to get started on the project.

David Garza says it’s something they do every year.

“People nominate people, somebody that they feel could use a little Christmas spirit,” said Garza.

And this year, they chose the LeGrand family.

“When we got the applications, there was several people, but we felt that they were a deserving family and we wanted to do something to help them,” said Garza.

Robin LeGrand had lost her job earlier in the year due to the pandemic, and was out of work for a while until recently. Her husband Joe, came home to a surprise while the crews were still working.

“There was a lot of vehicles in front of my house, so I wasn’t really sure,” said LeGrand.

When he learned what was happening, he was shocked.

Garza says they do this to help out the community, and had no idea that our crew would be there to cover the project.

“We’ve been blessed and we just want to bless other people, and it’s just a way to come out show some holiday spirit to some people and just give back to the community,” said Garza.

Joe is excited to see what the finished product will look like, and says he’s thankful for all that they’re doing.

“It makes me feel pretty good,” said LeGrand. “They’re still working in the pandemic. Good things can still happen.”

The two businesses both pitched in to gift Joe, Robin and their two boys with plenty of presents to open up on Christmas day.
