AMARILLO, Texas. (TNN) - The Texas Department of Public Safety seized hundreds of pounds of illegal drugs in Oldham County on January 5.

Around 3:50 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a 2020 Dodge Caravan on I-40 near Vega on a traffic violation. A DPS canine unit assisted with the routine traffic stop when the dog alerted on the car.

Troopers then found 224 pounds of PCP and 11 pounds of cocaine.

The driver and passenger, who were both from Colorado Springs, Colorado, were arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. They were transported to the Oldham County Jail.

Authorities say the drugs were allegedly being transported from California to Newark, New Jersey.
