LAWTON, Okla. (TNN) -
The latest drought monitor shows not much has changed over the past week, and most of our area is still experiencing abnormally dry or moderate drought conditions. The abnormally dry region is slightly extended outward into more of our region. Closer to DFW conditions have improved slightly, with less of the region in a severe drought area. Montague county is still experiencing severe drought conditions and parts of the surrounding counties are also feeling very dry. Conditions this week have stayed dry due to the warm temperatures and minimal rainfall.
The dry trend will remain into the weekend and the beginning of the next work week. Drought conditions are expected to worsen due to the lack of moisture and large ridge that will park over us to end the week. We will see high temperatures until midweek where an upper level trough digs into the area. Rain chances are possible but highly variable at this point.
