FORT SILL, Okla. (TNN) - Fort Sill is investigating sexual assault allegations, after a female soldier came forward.
Commanding General Kenneth Kamper said on Saturday a female soldier reported she was the victim of a sexual assault on the post, and it involved Fort Sill Cadre members.
General Kamper said the second he learned about the incident, he and others got on top of it.
“That information was immediately reported to law enforcement, and special agents from our Criminal Investigative Division (CID) conducted their initial interviews that same very day.”
Kamper said CID is conducting interviews daily, and will continue to do so as needed.
He said the victim is safe, and Fort Sill will keep her name protected throughout the entire process.
“The Cadre potentially involved in the allegation have been suspended from their normal duties, removed from any training environment and all are presumed innocent pending a full and thorough investigation.”
Kamper said he’s had experience with sexual assault and allegation cases, but they’re usually not from cadre members.
“It’s just a heartbroken, sad, sad feeling that something like this has happened. On a personal level, it’s just heartbreaking, and with that same level of heart brokenness we are determined to take this absolutely seriously.”
General Kamper said Fort Sill will continue to provided updates throughout the investigation.
