LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) - A suspect has been charged in connection to a homicide earlier this month in Lawton.

Aaron Koomsa, Jr. is accused in the death of Billy Moore at a home on SW Summit Ave.

He has been charged with first-degree manslaughter.

According to court documents, police responded to the home on Summit just before 3 a.m. on March 6 for a welfare check.

There, they found Billy Moore laying on the floor and next to his body was Koomsa, who officers said had blood on his face and hands.

Koomsa told investigators that around 2 that morning, he walked alone from a nearby bar and stopped to get beer at a convenience store on Sheridan Road. He said there, he saw Moore and offered him some beer in exchange for a cigarette.

He told officers he offered Moore half of an 18 pack of beers for a ride home, and the two got into Moore’s vehicle.

When they got to Koomsa’s home, Koomsa told investigators he told Moore he could come in, but he had to put his dogs up first. Koomsa told them he went to the restroom while Moore followed and opened the bathroom door. He said he then told Moore to leave, and he refused, leading to a physical fight between the two.

Koomsa said at one point, he grabbed his knife out of his pants pocket.

Investigators said Koomsa’s story was inconsistent, at one point saying he saw Moore holding a knife before later saying he didn’t know if Moore had a knife.

According to court documents, Koomsa admitted to police that he stabbed Moore in the chest and stomach.

His bond has been set at $75,000, with a preliminary hearing conference set for April 26.
