High school damaged in Texas tornado
JACKSBORO, TEXAS (KSWO) - Jacksboro ISD saw significant damage from a tornado which happened on Monday.
The school’s superintendent Brad Burnett said when he heard reports of damage near Jacksboro around 3 p.m. on Monday, March 21, he notified all campuses to head for the storm shelter.
Around 400 students were safe there and no students, staff members or parents were hurt.
Several parents who were waiting to pick up their kids also joined.
”I’ve been in this district for 30 years and this is the most catastrophic damage I’ve witnessed,” Burnett said. “So we’re just very blessed to have facilities that were designed to sustain a storm, the storm damage that we received.”
Also during Monday night’s press conference, Jack County Judge Brian Keith Umphrees said within minutes, there was an overwhelming response from Jack County and surrounding counties.
The Judge adds they’ll prepare for debris removal on Tuesday.
