Conserving Power in the Heat

With temperatures soaring into the triple digits this week, electric companies are asking users to be careful.  There is even a chance some usage records could be set across Oklahoma. In order to make sure there are no outages, here are some tips.

Companies encourage you to use less electricity, particularly during high-demand periods, between 4 pm and 8 pm.  They suggest raising air conditioner thermostats and keeping blinds and drapes closed.  Try not to use ovens, clothes dryers or dishwashers.  Also turn off or unplug any unnecessary electric equipment.

All of these will help electric companies deal with this extreme heat.
