Hay bale fire burns several acres

STERLING, Okla._ Several acres of land were charred in a grassfire after hay bales ignited on a flat bed trailer.
Volunteer firefighters were called to a hay bale fire burning in an open field northeast of Sterling, on Meers Porter Hill Rd. around 3:30 p.m. Friday.
The hay bales caught fire while on a flatbed trailer that was hitched to a pickup.
Firefighters unhooked the pickup and removed the burning bales from the trailer causing the fire to spread. A five acre radius was charred.
Neither the truck nor the trailer were seriously damaged.
