Lawton High School heads to state football championship

LAWTON, Okla._It's been 26 years since Lawton High played for a state football championship.

That drought will end tomorrow night when the Wolverines take on Bixby in the 6A-2 title game. Thursday, players, coaches and fans had a chance to unwind and have a little fun before the big game with an on-campus bonfire.

"It's definitely a dream come true. They've been telling us about this since our freshman year kind of like hey we're going to be the class to do it. Just everybody, our juniors, seniors, sophomores and even our freshmen are getting us and our school is getting us pumped up. It's a dream come true and we're ready," said Lawton High senior football player, Bryce Birt.

Friday night's game will get started at 7:00 p.m. in Moore. MacArthur will play in the 5A championship on Saturday.
