CLARK COUNTY, KS (KFOR) – An Oklahoma truck driver has passed away after being overcome by smoke from wildfires in Kansas.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says that Corey P. Holt, 39, was driving a semi-truck when smoke and dust blocked his view of the roadway. Investigators say Holt tried to back up due to the poor visibility, but the semi-truck jackknifed and he couldn't move, so he got out of the vehicle.

According to KFOR, Holt succumbed to the smoke from the wildfires before he was found and died at a nearby hospital.
