COMANCHE CO., OK (KSWO)- A dump truck caught fire Friday evening west of Lawton, and forced part of the highway to be shut down.
It happened on US Highway 62, just east of the Cache exit. Authorities say the truck had a blowout, and veered into the guard rail, then skidded back across the road, spilling diesel on the highway. Sparks from the truck's wheel gouging the concrete ignited the blaze. The driver was able to escape, but was taken to the hospital to be treated for severe burns.
Police detoured westbound traffic at the Deyo Mission exit, and limited eastbound traffic to one lane while crews worked to clean up the wreckage.
