ELGIN, OK (KSWO) - The USSSA will hold its fourth annual All-American Fast Pitch games in Florida from July 30-August 4th. Teams from eight different regions will compete. The Midwest team includes three players from here in Comanche County.
Kynli Garrett, Adison Goodin and Kelby Carter, teammates on the Oklahoma Freedom 10U team, were selected after a try-out in Oklahoma City this spring.
“We did hitting. We did fielding. They tested our speed. It was cool,” said Kynli Garrett.
Out of more than 300 youngsters who tried out, Garrett from Elgin along with Goodin and Carter from Cache, were three of the 26 players who made the cut.
“Well my mom had the phone whenever we found out and she read the name before I could even say anything,” said Adison Goodin. “She started screaming that I made it and I ran back to my room and started crying.”
"My mom told me,” said Kelby Carter. “She showed me a video of them saying all of our names who made it and it was really exciting because I didn't really think I was going to make it.”
This year's All-American Games will be held at the brand new USSSA Space Coast Complex in Viera, Florida. It’s just one reason the girls are eager to make their way to the Sunshine State.
“I’m just excited to play there, where all the professionals play,” Goodin said.
“Playing against girls from all over the country, seeing what Florida is like and making new friends and meeting new people,” said Garrett.
“Playing in front of college coaches and getting to meet new girls,” added Carter.
The girls are looking for sponsors for their journey to Florida. If you're interested in helping them out, you can reach them at the Oklahoma Freedom Fast-pitch team page on Facebook. They also set up a GoFundMe page at https://www.gofundme.com/tmdw4-usssa-allamerican-games.
