Korean War Veterans honored at Elmer Thomas Park

LAWTON, Ok (RNN Texoma) - Those who fought in the Korean War were honored on Monday at a ceremony at Elmer Thomas Park.

The Korean War began on June 25,1950. The Korean War Veterans Association and Comanche Indian Veterans Association teamed up to celebrate and appreciate the fallen soldiers that fought in the war.


The guest speaker Ki-Young Jeong, a Korean War veteran, shared his knowledge and history of the war.  "Around 39,000 US solider died on the Korean War so that is the biggest sacrifice on our home country to get freedom.", Jeong said. He says he wanted to thank the U-S soldiers who helped his home country.
He said the sacrifice made by many helped save his home country and he is forever grateful.
