(RNN Texoma) - The top attorney at the Oklahoma State Department of Health has resigned and is now facing criminal charges. Health Department officials confirmed today that Julie Ezell submitted her resignation as the agency's general counsel on Friday.
Ezell warned the board last week against banning smokable marijuana and requiring a pharmacist in every dispensary.
Soon after her resignation was announced, it was then revealed that she sent threatening messages to her own official government email account last week and then lied to authorities about it.
Ezell had helped write emergency rules for medical marijuana after voters approved state question 788 last month.
