WALTERS, OK (KSWO) - A Walters home was destroyed in a fire on Saturday. Firefighters were still monitoring hot spots on Sunday morning. Walter's Fire Department's Fire Chief said it happened around 6:30 Saturday night near First Street and Washington Avenue. It took about 3 to 4 hours to get the fire under control. Officials said the heat was a factor in putting the fire out because it takes a toll on the firefighters. The home is a total loss.

7NEWS went by the home on Sunday and talked to some family members who said everyone living in the home including a few dogs got out with no injuries. But sadly, three puppies could not be saved.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
