Vacant house catches fire in Lawton

LAWTON, Ok (RNN Texoma) - A vacant trailer house caught fire in Lawton on Tuesday.  It happened a little after 7:00 p.m. on the corner of Southwest 13th and J Avenue. Officers and firefighters could see thick smoke in the air from blocks away.

"When our crews arrived on scene the trailer house was fully involved. Our crews went into a defensive attack and extinguished the fire." said Asst. Chief Mike McDaniel of the Lawton Fire Department. They were able to keep the flames from spreading to any other homes or trees surrounding the property.

The fire marshal was called to investigate how it started.
