MARLOW, OK (KSWO)- A church in Marlow is helping people in need in an unusual way. Members of Marlow United Methodist Church built a "Blessing Box" full of items as a way to give back to the community.

"It's the little things and sometimes little things can make a world of difference in somebody's day," said Shawn Scott, Lay leader. "They just need a little bit of help."

Across the street from Marlow United Methodist Church on West Main Street is where you'll find the "Blessing Box."

Scott said the concept behind it is to take what you need and leave what you can. She said got the idea from other churches as a way to help those that need items they can't purchase by themselves.

"It allows our church members to serve the people outside of the church," she said. "It's one of our favorite things to do."

You don't need a key to add items or take them and the box is open 24/7. It's full of non-perishable food and hygiene items.

Scott said her hope is that box will cause a ripple effect and inspire others to find it in their hearts to give back too.

"We hope that it touches many lives outside the church and just brightens many peoples days with lots of great blessings," she said.
