(RNN Texoma) - 7News partnered with Red Cross Oklahoma for a telethon supporting the victims of hurricane Florence Tuesday raising over $3,000.
The 3 hour event brought in a total of $3430.
The money raised provides food, shelter, blankets, personal hygiene items, cleaning supply kits, and emotional support.
Red Cross officials say even though the hurricane is gone their work following any disaster is far from over. Take for example hurricane Harvey a year ago. "That's the thing, people think the Red Cross came in and then we're gone , but we're on the ground for a long time we have long term recovery efforts in Houston and there are still volunteers on the ground and deploying to that region because we don't leave," said Brittney Rochell of Red Cross of Oklahoma.
